Along with many other hobbies, I brew beer. We have a small fermenter and some basic equipment. It's a fun and relaxing passtime, and means one can end up with some really good beers that would normally cost a significant amount to import from Europe.
More importantly, one can brew things that can't normally be purchased. Dandelion Wine requires plenty of effort, but is well worth the wait. Alcoholic lemonade is a refreshing drink, albeit one difficult to make correctly.
Of course, not everything works out well. While not recorded on these pages, we attempted to make lavender wine and ended up with something completely undrinkable. The good news is that just about any failed experiment can be used in the garden to kill snails.
The real reason I have all this information on-line is that while I do have a paper log-book of brews, it's running out of space, and doesn't provide me with much room to ramble or take notes. Besides, it doesn't let me write HTML::Mason components to automatically determine alcohol content from specific gravity readings.
