Chooks
The chooks eat rhubarb leaves like they're the best thing
they've ever tasted. Luckily they can't get to them in
quantities that could cause them harm. Silly chooks.

Diaster
The chickens got into the tomato patch and flattened our
romana tomato plant and some of the chillis. Our only
consolation is that they probably got a good number of slugs
and snails that were hanging around in there.
Shadow (our rabbit) seems to be getting more and more fond
of the layers pellets, hanging around during the chook's
feeding time and bullying the younger chooks away from the
feeder. He snubbed his own high-fibre rabbit pellets,
although Boor'yall (Brenda's white silkie) gobbled them with
relish.
Just as long as they keep eating the grass I'll be happy.
Perl
Finishing up the materials for two talks I'll be giving at
Melbourne Perl Mongers this weekend. It'll be good to have
the group up and running again.

Chickens
Two more chickens arrived yesterday, and are integrating
nicely into the flock. We've named them Sofie and Dan/Ben
(Den?).

Chooks
Have chooks. Three brown cross-breeds and one white silkie,
adopted from Brenda. They rock, although one of the
cross-breeds has been jumping fences despite wing-clipping.
More later when I have time. Oh yeah, Shadow (our rabbit)
loves the chooks.

Chickens
The coop is finished. It looks fantastic, and contains all
sorts of things a chook coop needs like nesting boxes,
doors, walls, and even a roof. The pen goes up today (real
easy, just string up some chook wire), and most of our flock
will arrive tomorrow.
We're also adopting Brenda's (from my old workplace)
chicken, a beautiful silkie hen. With any luck she'll be
arriving tonight, so she has an extra chance to get used to
her new surroundings. I'm very excited.
Shadow (our rabbit) helped a lot in making the coop,
including the digging of the stump holes, and inspecting our
materials and tools. We discovered that he hates small
step-ladders (triple-stomp in badness), but he LOVES tall
step-ladders (making a point of sitting under them to eat
grass). Go figure.
