Beer

Beer
I'd like to drink a toast to whoever invented beer. It's very good stuff.

Music
Music's good. Especially with beer.

Weekends
Weekends are great, especially with beer and music.

Music again
Am considering stealing Dab's sub-woofer so my music sounds better when I drink my beer.

Coding
Together with Ian, we are drunkards@atcafe.com.au. I've learnt not to code when I'm drunk, because I think I'm a legend and instead I write really obscure code with no comments. This is bad. I should play Homeworld instead.

Homeworld
I suck at Homeworld. I'll probably suck at it more when I'm drunk, but that's okay.

Gwen
Gwen washed the dishes and gave me more games to play. She rocks.

Ireland
Ireland has good beer and good music. I love Ireland, and have ancestors who came from there. If people invaded countries because they had good beer instead of oil, then Ireland would be screwed.

Food
I'm going to have to cycle more. Food is one of those wonderful necessities which I really love. Back when I cycled 30+km/day I could eat at much as I want. I really liked that. Maybe I should give up work and cycle lots. Great Ocean Road sounds good, the Roadhouse at Laver's Hill has such nice people, and such good food, and food tastes so much better when you've been cycling up some huge mountain all day. Maybe I should ask Schoolsnet if I can get my seat replaced with a exercise bike, so I can burn more calories while coding. In fact, that sounds like an excellent idea. Mmmmm...... Calories. Yum.

Hackey-Sack
Game of the gods.

Rock-climbing

Rock-climbing
Went rockclimbing with a bunch of people, including Ross. I managed to make the finger-breaking climb that Ian did last week, and Ross showed excellent potential starting his climbs at a 12.

Diplomacy
The two Diplomacy games are going well, with the first one clipping along nicely and the second one starting to roll into action.

Work

Work
We're in the new building, and it seems that just about everything got moved across okay. A lot of people spent a lot of time over the weekend making sure that things went smoothly for us today, and I'm very grateful for that.

There was a small hiccup where my mouse and speakers ended up in Dancer's bin (the removalists put them there), but otherwise things went without a hitch.

The coffee machine isn't plumbed in yet, so we have to use the back-up machine which isn't anywhere near as good.

Luke and DataServe
It looks like not only have I met Luke before, I worked with him. DataServe was a company created by Luke and some mutual friends of ours a long time ago, about when I was 12-13. Luke even found my old report (I was head of the Commodore division), where I discussed some of the software I was working on at the time.

I'm glad that Luke kept all these documents, they bring back many memories of when I was a little geek, instead of being the big geek I am now. I think that if DataServe were to be reformed today it would prove to be a quite successful company -- the people in it have certainly gone on to prove themselves to be quite talented.

Homeworld
It's very pretty, has a nice feel, and so far has a reasonable plot. Pity I suck at it. Ian will probably be dissapointed in me.

A good harvest

Lukeh, time-capsules, and stuff
Lukeh seems to think that I'm related to some 'important historical documents'. I find this flattering, especially considering that I don't believe I've ever actually met Luke personally, although I believe almost every other person at Schoolsnet has.

I'm looking forward to seeing Luke's documents, I'm quite curious now.

A good harvest
Most of my Jersualem Artichokes have died back for the winter, and so I took the opportunity this weekend to harvest the tubers. I ended up with a very large bucket filled with roots, and those which I've tried have been delicious. I'll definitely be replanting these next time.

Geeks with Balls

Geeks with Balls
Went to the Apocalypso ball last night, which is the annual Infinite Images roleplaying club's ball. The ball had mixed goth and hawaiian themes, which was odd but worked. Managed to catch up with a lot of old friends who I hadn't seen in a while, and generally had a very good time. As it was, the world didn't end due to the planetary alignments, but we sacrificed a couple of pineapples anyway.

The ball was extremely geeky... I think we would have been the only ones in the world at the time to be dancing a conga-line to the great 80's hit "Star Trekkin'".

Moving hassles
Schoolsnet is currently moving, so I can't access my e-mail. Ross tells me that I should go out and get a life for a day. I already have a life, I just use e-mail to manage it.
