Received mail from PAUSE, the Perl Authors Upload Server, confirming my registration and permission to submit Finance::Quote to CPAN. I'll send another mail out to the Quote.pm authors confirming they don't mind CPAN distribution. I'll also need to do a good tidy-up of the module, and will probably implement OO-methods to make future maintainence easier.

Went on Critical Mass last night -- my first time in a few months. We had a great ride out to St.Kilda, a few drinks at the Espy, and then retired to Veg Out Time (one of the best Vegetarian resturants in the area).

When I got home I discovered that my work machine was not accessable. I know Tara was using my machine to play Half-Life, and I assume she forgot to reboot into Linux at the end of it.

I called work (about 10:30pm at night) hoping someone might still be there to reboot my machine. To my surprise I discovered that the reason it hadn't been rebooted was that Tara (and many others) were still playing Half-Life.

I was woken by a phone-call at 11:30pm to let me know that they had finished. The game must have gone for a good six hours. I don't play it for that long on Fridays, do I?

Suspected that there may be problems in the flow of messages between my machine and that of GnuCash's mail server. In an attempt to track down the problem, I sent numerous messages to addresses like bounce-me-please@gnucash.org -- expecting to see bouncing messages (or a lack thereof) to help me diagnose faults.

After a bit of time wondering why things weren't coming back, I received a letter from Jeremy Collins with one of my subject lines: 'BOUNEC ME NOW GNUCASH!' (sic) with the text `HA HA! Enjoy!'.

It seems that all those bogus addresses I was sending to were actually landing in Jeremy's mailbox. Ooops! I've apologised to Jeremy for spamming him.

Work
Work has been surprisingly quiet today -- or at least it has for me, anyway. Maybe the horrendous number of bugs and emergencies that normally get thrown to me have lulled me into a false sense of insecurity.

My patches have integrated into GnuCash fine. Tested them and they all look good.

Work
Scott's on leave and Dan managed to escape my wrath by being interstate for the day. The side-effect of this is that I'm probably going to become Mr. Fix-it for a number of tasks which Dan/Scott would normally deflect/ignore/absorb. It's been a quiet day so far, but I'm sure it's not going to stay that way.

Other
Planning on looking at houses this weekend. I'd like a place where I can run chickens.

My patches managed to sneak into CVS without me noticing. I hope to give GnuCash a good testing in the morning to make sure that everything is working okay. My thanks go to Dave Peticolas for integrating the patches.

Went to a Peter Kearney concert tonight with Jacinta. Jacinta informed me that Peter Kearney was a child singer and she had sung in a concert with him about 10 years ago.

I figured that if Peter were a child about 10 years ago, then he should be a young adult by now. It was somewhat of a surprise when I realised my mistake -- Peter was not a child singer, but person who sings with children. In this case he was singing with children from St. Ambrose primary school.

I had a lot of fun at the concert even though it wasn't quite what I expected. It reminded me of when I was a young child and I would (badly) play the recorder at school concerts.

My patch for GnuCash has been accepted and should be in the CVS tree shortly. :)

Work
Interviewed a potential employee today for one of our perl developer spots. This time I had a whole 15 minutes to prepare for the interview, although 10 of those minutes were spent trying to find the resume. In the end all worked out well.

Dan is beginning to seriously annoy me with the delays in the performance reviews. I'm going to be pine-cone'ing him very soon if he doesn't up his game.
